Cagey Barack Obama Head Hunted for "The Daily Show"

Comedy Central to replace long time host, Jon Stewart

(SNN) – Long standing host of Comedy Central's The Daily Show, Jon Stewart, will step down later this year. Stewart, who began hosting the show in 1999, will remain there until later in 2015. According a Sage insider, the humorist will be replaced by Barack Obama. Stewart's departure comes on the heels of the news that another network asset, Stephen Colbert, was leaving the late night show on CBS.

“Stewart will keep the seat warm until President Obama's term is complete,” advised The Sage's insider. “This has been a well kept secret and a tough decision by Comedy Central's casting agents.”

According to sources, the network was looking for someone who is a true satirist and could fill Stewart's boots.. “Obama has been able to fuse pop culture and politics for the past six years," advised Brent Saltermann, Head of Original Programming. “We had shortened the list to three, but recently Obama pushed it over the top.”

“His recent speeches at the UN, France, and elsewhere have had our execs rolling in the aisles,” quipped Saltermann.

“We were looking for people with that special unique look, could keep a straight face, and at the same time make people laugh,” advised Salterman.

The list was shortened to three, with Barack Obama beating out Carrot Top and Sarah Bernhardt. “Obama is a natural satirist; just when you think he is serious, you finally get the joke,” added Saltermann
