Jian Ghomeshi Under Investigation For Assualts

Dismissed CBC Radio Host Woes Continue.

(SNN) - Jian Ghomeshi, the former CBC Radio host of the daily arts program "Q, " has gone from national broadcasting icon to a figure of contempt. On October 26th, CBC ended there relationship with Ghomeshi with the following announcement. "The CBC is saddened to announce its relationship with Jian Ghomeshi has come to an end. This decision was not made without serious deliberation and careful consideration. Jian has made an immense contribution to the CBC and we wish him well," the network said in a statement.

Following was an announcement by Ghomeshi that he plans to file a $50 million lawsuit against the CBC.

Now, the Toronto Police have opened an investigation into Ghomeshi for Assault and Sexual Assault resulting from complaints by three women, including Actress Lucy DeCoutere. DeCoutere is best known for her role as Lucy in the television series Trailer Park Boys.

Ghomeshi had tried to get ahead of the brewing scandal when he posted a lengthy explanation on his Facebook Fan page, stating, “I've done nothing wrong.” In this statement, Ghomeshi said that all his encounters with woman were consensual. “I've been fired from the CBC because of the risk of my private sex life being made public as a result of a campaign of false allegations pursued by a jilted ex-girlfriend and a freelance writer.” In describing his sex life Ghomeshi stated, “Let me be the first to say that my tastes in the bedroom may not be palatable to some folks. They may be strange, enticing, weird, normal, or outright offensive to others. We all have our secret life. But that is my private life. That is my personal life. And no one, and certainly no employer, should have dominion over what people do consensually in their private life.” His Facebook statement alleged that his ex-girlfriend and the writer have started a campaign to “smear” him.

It has been reported by Maclean's Magazine that “As many as nine women — two named — have alleged in the media he attacked them physically and/or sexually without warning.”

No charges have been filed and the police investigation continues.
