Paul Revere of the Raiders Dies Aged 76

Legendary Rocker Had Been Battling Cancer

(SNN) – The “madman of rock and roll”, and founder of Paul Revere and the Raiders, has died at the age of 76. Paul Revere Dick, frontman and organist, had announced on Facebook in July of this year that he was ill, no longer able to tour with the band he had founded in the 1960s. Revere posted, "Even though I've had some health issues, nothing can stop the old man. I'm like the Energizer Bunny! It breaks my heart to have to stay home while the band goes out without me to our next block of dates."

Revere passed away in Idaho on his small estate overlooking a river canyon on Saturday, October 4th. It had been reported Revere had been battling cancer.

The seven member rock group, Paul Revere and the Raiders, who became known for their tri-corner hats and American Revolution-inspired wardrobe, has consisted of nearly 40 past and present musicians since they hit the Billboard charts at No. 38 with "Like, Long Hair". The bands recording of “Indian Reservation” in 1971 hit number one.
