Jimi Jamison, Frontman for the Rock Band Survivor, Dead at 63.

(SNN) – Jimi Jamison, lead singer of the rock band Survivor, died at 63. It was reported that the singer passed away as a result of a heart attack.

Jamison joined the band Survivor in 1984 after leaving his former group, Cobra. Wrongly remembered for the hit song, “Eye of the Tiger”, which was sung by then lead singer Dave Bickler, Jamison was initially reluctant to join the "pop rock" band, having come from the heavy metal stylings of Cobra.

His influence in Survivor was to bring a burst of new successes, propelling Survivor to superstardom. Some of the resulting hits included "The Moment of Truth" (from "The Karate Kid"), "The Search Is Over," "Burning Heart" (from "Rocky IV), and "Is This Love", to name just a few.
