More Sites Copy Twitter Delisting ISIS Members

(SNN) - A CBC report available here has revealed that everyone’s favourite 140 character chat-site “Twitter” has been ‘quietly’ suspending the accounts of known ISIS members. ('Quietly' includes a report on CBC, apparently.) Twitter officials claim the militant group uses their tweets for propaganda and recruitment purposes, unlike everyone else on the site. In response, other Internet sites have also been targeting ISIS member accounts, including Facebook, E-Harmony, Ashley Madison and Adult Friend Finder.

“It is with no regrets and a clear conscience we are suspending the accounts of people identified as ISIS members because of the tenets of their sick, woman-hating, nasty organization,” said Howe I. Rohnek, spokeman for Ashley Madison, a website for married people to find willing sex partners to cheat with. “We are proud and happy to be in the vanguard of companies taking a stand and doing what’s right. The fact that we don’t actually have any ISIS members in our membership that we know of means nothing.”

Facebook has taken the issue one step further and made it impossible to “like” posts by ISIS people with either personal or professional accounts that mention such things as “genocide”, “killing” or ISIS branded merchandise for sale in their online store. As well, ISIS Facebook members will no longer be able to have people RSVP their “Upcoming Events” such as beheadings or carnal savagery.

MySpace has refused to go along with the ban on ISIS members saying that it isn’t worth the effort to try and identify any ISIS members with accounts as nobody goes there anymore anyway.
