(SNN) - Jerry Lewis, the king of comedy, finally left his mark outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre Saturday with his wife and daughter as he placed his hand and footprints in cement outside the famous Hollywood landmark.

Honour is no stranger to Jerry Lewis.

Lewis, who turned 88 on March 16th, has been recognized for his lifetime efforts of humanitarian work. He was honoured at the 2009 Academy Awards when he received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award; and last December, he was appointed an Honorary Member of the Order of Australia for his service to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation of Australia.

Although Lewis has his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Saturday's indelible impression was long overdue.

As it turned out, Saturday was a day that featured Jerry Lewis in more than one way. It was also the 50th anniversary screening of "The Nutty Professor", which was made part of the TCM Classic Film Festival.

Although retired from hosting the telethon, it is rumoured that he will be appearing in the comedy “Big Finish” to be released in 2015, where he plays 'the Chairman.' Other famous alumni to be featured in the movie are Debbie Reynolds, Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, Don Rickles and Tim Conway. A dream team of a comedy cast, movie buffs are sure to make “Big Finish” a box office draw.
