'Russian Styles Don't Lend Themselves To Cross-Dressing'

Putin's Interior Minister Explains Gay Crack-Down

(SNN) - Igor Beavor, Secretary of the Ministery of the Interior, insists “the great country of Mother Russia” is still as inclusive and accommodating as it has ever been to every minority group, including all “gay. lesbian, trans-gendered people and other weirdoes on the periphery of normal society”.  There is, however, a limit to how far they will accommodate such radical lifestyles.

In an effort to explain his government’s recent beatings, arrests and old-fashioned oppression of those in Russia’s alternative lifestyle communities,  Beavor, met with Russian Foreign Reporters Association members recently in Moscow.

“It’s not like we want to be seen as intolerant,” explained Beavor, “In fact, we are doing this to try and be more even-handed. We are actually only after cross-dressers. Let’s face it. Russian styles, with the frumpy scarves and the plain dresses made from coarse fabrics, are just not conducive to attractive looking transvestites. It’s really for their own good.”
