Canada: Harper offers beaver to Obama.

US: Obama reciprocates with subscription to Maxim.

(SNN) – In an effort to solidify relationships between the two neighbouring countries, Prime Minister Steven Harper has offered a gift of a pet beaver to President Barack Obama. “I didn't know what to think. One moment I am sitting in the oval office and the phone rings. It was the Canadian Prime Minister,” advised Obama, “He said, 'Hi Barack, it's Steven. I would like to come to DC and offer you a little beaver'.'”

It was not the first time Obama was offered such services by Canadians. In February of 2009, President Obama was greeted by Canada's Governor General Michaëlle Jean upon arriving in Ottawa. On the way from the airport, Jean asked Obama if he wanted to stop off at a Boston Pizza for a Nooner.

“I find Canadians just a bit too friendly” said a bewildered Obama, “I didn't know how to respond to Steven's offer, so I bought him a yearly subscription to Maxim Magazine. As a good family man, I just don't know what I am going to do with a little beaver.”

Upon learning of the misunderstanding, it is reported that Harper was embarrassed by the blunder. “Beaver makes a very industrious pet.” said Harper, “I just don't know what I am going to do with another subscription to Maxim.”

It was reported that the 'beaver manoeuvre' as it has become known, was a Memorial Day gift as an effort to soften Obama regarding the Keystone Pipeline.
