Drive-Through Bungee Jumping Comes To Washington State

I-5 Bridge Over Scagit River To Be Made Into Tourist Attraction

(SNN) County officials in Washington State who are responsible for the bridge over the Scagit River that collapsed after being clipped by an Alberta trucker, are using the disaster to make lemonade out of lemons.

“When I saw the video of those cars plunging into the river, of course I was initially shocked and horrified,” said Transportation head, Gary Springer. “However, it didn’t take much imagination to see the possibilities of incorporating the bungee jumping fad into the bridge rebuild design.”

County officials are hoping motorists will be willing to fork over $250.00 each to drive their vehicles off the bridge while attached to gigantic rubber bands. These bands will allow you to just touch the water with your wheels and then they will bounce you back up to the other side of the gorge.

“We believe this will provide a terrific boost to our tourism industry,” beamed Governor Jay Inslee. “Even better, this new, extreme bungee adventure bridge may help get people’s minds off the state's crumbling infrastructure.”
