DND Downsizing To Trim Budget

Psst... wanna buy a tank?

(SNN) - In a surprise move, the Canadian Department of National Defense has responded to the Harper government's demand to cut spending by selling off some of their less fuel efficient vehicles. This included such well known gas guzzlers and diesel drinkers as LAV4 armoured cars and Leopard tanks, neither of which are available as hybrids. One of the purchasers of the suddenly surplus armaments was retailer WalDepotWare who is using a tank in a pilot project to see if it's use will cut down on theft in it's "chain by the meter" department.

"Tanks and other armoured vehicles are extremely heavy and therefore don't get very good gas mileage," explained General Fred Nerby, who oversees defence department spending. "We have tried using lighter materials but they have not proved popular with the troops. So we figured we might as well get rid of them altogether.
